Are you a beginning teacher looking for practical ideas to build your capacity to become a quality teacher? The Beginning and Establishing Teachers’ Association (BETA) hosts the annual Spirit of Learning – a Residential Conference for beginning teachers at the Hilton Hotel.

Join Andrew Fuller as the 2020 Opening Keynote Speaker at this year’s Spirit of Learning Conference. His keynote, Guerrilla Tactics for Teachers discusses what it takes to not just survive, but thrive as a teacher – staying sane by working out how to read the crowd with behaviour strategies and the fine art of anchoring to develop your classroom routines.

Quality practical workshops with a focus on literacy, numeracy, behaviour management, feedback, explicit teaching and digital pedagogy will be presented. Workshops will be delivered by current practicing educators to ensure delegates are armed with practical strategies to adapt to their context.

Queensland’s Industrial Relations Commissioner, Samantha Pidgeon opens the conference on day 2, with her keynote: You Deserve The Best YOU!

With over 300 delegates attending, the Spirit of Learning Conference is fast becoming one of the biggest PD opportunities for beginning teachers. Register today to secure your place.

BETA’s regional conference offers an opportunity for pre-service, beginning and establishing teachers within Regional Queensland access to professional development. This annual conference is conducted over one day and includes prominent education keynote speakers. The program also features workshops by practising teachers offering practical strategies to complement school and district induction programs.

Our 2020 keynote presentation this year “Ready to Teach so Your Students are Ready to Learn” will be presented by Chris Dawson, Berry St Education Model.

During our workshops, BETA will address key topics beginning teachers are facing in the classroom, along with practical tips to encourage self-control and professionalism. This presentation should prove useful to all teachers and administrators. Breakout sessions covering a variety of topics will also be on offer (view full program via the link at bottom of this page).
